Compact reading glasses, sometimes referred to as slim reading glasses, are lighter, less noticeable, and sometimes more attractive, than the larger variety. Before purchasing compact reading glasses you should make sure that the readers will meet your needs.
First consider what you will be using the reading glasses for. Compact reading glasses are great for short tasks or those that must be performed while on the go. Reading menus and labels, shopping tags or bus schedules are perfect examples of these types of tasks. Because
the lenses on compact reading glasses are smaller than those on larger styles they don’t always make the best option for long term or more intense reading. Some people find it hard to focus through the small area for long periods of time.
Another great use for compact reading glasses is as a half eye. This means to wear the compact reading glasses down a bit on your nose. This will allow you to look down through the lenses to see your near vision tasks while maintaining the ability to look our over the top for your distance vision needs. If you do this keep in mind that moving the readers down
your nose can actually increase the strength of the glasses so you might consider getting a slightly weaker power.
The final great thing about compact reading glasses is the storage cases they usually come with. Often such readers come with a hard case that is designed to store a specific style of reading glasses. This means no extra space in the case, hence no wasted space in your pocket or bag. The case is usually rigid providing a protective home for the readers when you are
on the go and throwing them haphazardly in to your pocket or purse.
Compact or slim readers are the perfect solution for those people looking for reading glasses to solve the above challenges. Use them on the go, use them as half eye readers, or throw them in to your bag without a care, that’s what they were designed for.

How-To: Build a Video Projector
by: Andrew Seltz
Mix big screen home theater dreams with a skimpy budget and you
have the makings of a fantastic do-it-yourself project. Just think of
how impressed all your friends will be watching blockbuster movies on
a video projector you made with your own 2 hands. It was just these
motivations that landed me in front of my web browser digging for
information for this project. There are a lot of cheesy websites that
promise the moon and sell you a plastic magnifying lense and the
instructions to stick a television into a box and put this lens on the
front. You will get an image, but it will look like you made it
yourself. - dark, and blurry. Is there any way to make this work? The
short answer is yes. A video projector is essentially a high
resolution LCD video screen with a really bright light shining through
it and a projector lense enlarging onto the screen. New portable ...

Using Costume Contacts
by: Amanda Baker
Looking for a change from your regular contacts?
Want an option that will really have people talking?
Costume contacts aren?t just available to movie costume designers anymore.
Now even you can have eyes that look alien, or cat-like, or whatever you desire.
Thought many people think of purchasing costume contacts only to match their Halloween costumes, you can actually wear costume contact lenses to just about anywhere you can wear regular contacts!
There are many costume contact lenses out there that are affordable and comfortable.
However, buyers should keep in mind that some lenses use a toxic paint that can cause eye irritation.
You should always go with lenses made from a major contact lens manufacturer.
If you want a contact lens that will really make you stand out, try scleral contacts.
Unlike other lenses, scleral lenses...
If You Want To See Like New, Do The Lasik Surgery
by: Ochi Ecelentia
Having Lasik Done is Like Getting a New Pair of Eyes.
There it was, an ad in the paper for Lasik surgery only $299 per eye. I had wanted to give my wife the surgery as a present since I first heard about it and now with the lower price, I was going to do it. We set up an appointment and found out she was a candidate for the surgery.
Unfortunately, my wife had a severe astigmatism which increased the cost of the surgery from $299 per eye to $799 per eye. Business was good and I was committed so we made the decision to go ahead. The doctor would be using the Visix laser due to the astimatism. The visix laser was more accurate and therefore more expensive.
Even thought it was more expensive than we had planned we decided to go ahead with the procedure. The surgery would be performed in about 2 weeks.
Before I knew it, the day came for the surgery. We were...

Contact Lens Options for Your Pediatric Patients
by: Steve Cogger
Pediatric patients are some of the most special patients we see in any practice. When infants present for contact lenses, we all know it is a medical necessity.
The practitioners at my practice believe that contact lenses should not be any more of a burden on the parents than they have to be. And let’s face it, inserting and removing lenses on an infant or a toddler is not an easy task for most.
Regardless, every parent or caregiver is instructed on the insertion and removal of their child’s contact lens. Despite our best efforts, some parents are still hesitant to perform this task at home. In these cases, the child is fit with an extended wear lens made of either soft silicone or an approved gas permeable material. We love watching these kids grow, so we have the parents bring in their child on prescribed schedule to have the lens removed, cleaned, and re-inserted.
Many...
